Ruth Schmit - Oil
Ruth Schmit
Roses and seascapes are amoung the subjects that I paint, sometimes letting in a breath of fresh air by branching out into non-representational work. But my strongest creative yearning is to faithfully represent on canvas my deep emotional attachment to the landscape of the Pacific Norhwest. My family has had a cabin in the mountains southeast of Mt. St. Helens for many years. We often drive on old logging roads, breathing in the high mountain air, watching for elusive wildlife and for nature's vista that can surprise one around a bend in the road.
For me, there are always more subjects to paint, more colors to mix and more things to learn. That makes every day an adventure.
